(beter bekend als WILLEM karikatuurtekenaar) Autonoom sinds 1997

Mijn creatieve loopbaan begon al op de lagere school door uit te blinken in het tekenen. Zo ook op de MAVO, dus een 5 voor wiskunde, maar mijn leraren had ik ondertussen wel vereeuwigd in mijn  schoolagenda 's. Om die agenda 's is later door mijn medeleerlingen min of meer gevochten; (ik gaf ze weg! ). Daar heb ik nu nog spijt van omdat het tot op heden niet gelukt is deze terug te krijgen. In 1975 begon ik met het schilderen en tekenen van realistische landschappen en portretten; Hiermee wekte ik de aandacht van de kunsthandel, die mijn werk wel wist te verzilveren. Veel atelierwerk dus, maar dat is en blijft een stille en eenzame bezigheid, al heeft het zo zijn eigen charmes. Uiteindelijk ben ik me steeds meer gaan toeleggen op het karikatuurtekenen. Schilderen doe ik nog steeds, maar ofwel in opdracht, of vrij werk, met andere woorden, zo kan ik zelf bepalen welke opdrachten ik wel of niet aanneem, om zo een stukje vrijheid te behouden. In het karikatuurteken kan ik mijn baldadige artistieke inslag kwijt! Immers bij het karikatuurtekenen komt  heel wat meer kijken dan alleen de realiteit...

Autobiographie: Wim Karremans: (Better known as WILLEM caricatures) Autonomous since 1997   My creative carrier started at the age of 6 or 7. Years later I got the attention of my teachers by drawing them in my diaries in comic situations! At the end of the school year all the other students wanted these diaries whit the drawings, so I gave them away. Until this day I regret that…because after all these years it’s hard to find them back. Also my school reports weren’t always the way it should be. During MAVO study I didn’t lose that habit. Thanks to the support of my parents and my drawing teacher Nico Rutten (MAVO) I kept drawing and painting and reading almost every art book of the library. At the year 1975 I started painting landscapes and portraits, also for an Art gallery so I made a kind of living of it with all ups and downs...Nowadays I still make paintings, but mostly I prefer drawing caricatures. Less silent hours working in the studio, although it does have its own charms. If there are new paintings available, you will find them on this website. This way of living keeps me free and allows me to do what I like most in the fascinating world of Art.  By drawing caricatures the reality is not always the most important item…
